Emergency destocking in Mali in the drought summer of 2018

Droughts in Mali have severe effects on pastoralists. Cattle, goats and sheep are at risk if they are vulnerable, especially after the hunger period, this is when the pastures and fodder are finished and animals are hungry, when the first rains are setting in. Removing the weak and sick animals from the herd, leaves pastoralists with an immediate compensation and strengthens the core breeding stock.

Development of a surveillance and control system for Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) in West and Central Africa

The aim of this project is to establish a sustainable foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) control system in Mali and identify major conditions for its replicability to other countries in West and Central Africa.

Production and Marketing of Local Milk on the Markets In and Around Bamako (Project PAFLAPUM Phase IV)

„I am a widow and I have 7 children. Before the project, I couldn’t satisfy my family’s needs and had therefore little autonomy, if any. I used to leave the house at 6 am to find 20 liters of milk, that I would later sell in Bamako.
Quite often, I didn’t manage to sell all the milk, and the losses were significant. Today, with the kiosk and the fridge, I sell more than 160 liters a day. The revenues I make enabled me to gain autonomy. I am not the widow anymore, I am the milk seller.”
