As we reflect on the year 2024, we are reminded of the remarkable resilience and strength demonstrated by the communities we work with in the Sahel region and the Horn of Africa. These regions faced profound challenges again this year, as the impacts of climate change, protracted conflicts, and socio-economic instability continued to strain livelihoods, health, and ecosystems.
In light of all this adversity, we are proud of what our committed staff achieved throughout the year. They provided life-saving veterinary services to millions of animals, ensuring that livestock – a critical source of food, income, and security – remained healthy and productive. Our community-based training programs empowered thousands with the skills and tools needed to adapt to changing climatic conditions, including sustainable rangeland management and food production.
In a time when international cooperation is under constant attack by politicians and governments, we find it particularly important to highlight that the impact of our work is measurable. Thanks to our membership in alliances and networks, we are able to measure this impact according to scientific standards like never before. The result is clear: our work has a huge impact on vulnerable communities.
With the development of the VSF-Suisse Global Strategy 2025-2028, we set the stage for the next four years to come. We stay committed to our overall goal: Sustainable livestock-based food systems ensure food and nutrition security and resilient livelihoods of marginalized communities in times of climate crisis and fragility.
None of this is possible without the commitment of our staff and the steadfast support of our donors and partners. Your trust and engagement fuel our mission and inspire us to do more. Together, we have shown that even in the most challenging times of adversity, change is possible when we act with compassion, determination, and unity.
Thank you for your continued support.
