What is your name, academic title, age, and where are you from?

My name is Adolphe Sama and I have a BAC+5 degree in Agricultural Business Management. I’m 29 years old and I’m from Togo.

Which profession or What activity did you learn or study?

I am an agroeconomist by training.

Which year did you start working at VSF-Suisse?

I joined the VSF-Suisse team in December 2020.

What is your current role and in which country office of VSF-Suisse do you work?

I am a monitoring and evaluation officer in the VSF-Suisse office in Togo.

Which aspect of your work do you like the most?

Two aspects: the first aspect is the monitoring of indicators. It is very satisfying to follow the development of the activities and to see that we have achieved for what we have set up a project for. The second aspect is the monitoring of activities on the ground. For me, it is a real pleasure to visit the people and see their joy and enthusiasm about the realization of projects that will solve some of their problems or make their living conditions easier.

What are the biggest challenges in your work?

The biggest challenge in my job is to make sure that the project goal is achieved. This means tracking the progress of activities in real time, pointing out shortcomings and ensuring that what was planned is not only achieved, but also implemented in the allotted time.

What is a memory of your work that you will never forget?

During a project visit, I was pleased to see that one of the project participants had implemented the advice and support from VSF-Suisse in his beekeeping and thus increased his income. Thanks to this improvement, he was able to purchase a motorized tricycle, which he uses for his beekeeping and other side activities.

For me, his success was a great joy. The work I do, the work we do, helps change lives and support families. Meeting him and his family remains one of my fondest memories of my work.

In your opinion, what is different about the work of VSF-Suisse compared to other organisations or actors?

At VSF-Suisse, the team spirit and the constant dialogue between staff are two factors that make it special.

What is your passion outside of work?

Music and being with my family.

Thanks for your passion, Adolphe!
